Night Shots

I participated in Dixie's capture-the-flag event and tried my chances at night-time shooting. only problem? No tripod. Shucks. These are the best photos from the shoot:

The event is about to start. Red and Blue team sashes are ready to go.

People continue to gather for the event.

I take a picture of someone taking a picture of me.

Flash vs no flash. intriguing.

The obligatory selfie turned out well. :)

The event begins, and from here on out I took video of the exciting game.

I Love Panoramas!!!

These are my favorite types of photos!!!

An old ship taken over by nature.

A misty day in Seattle.

Emerald waters in the Virgin River, The Narrows, Zion.

My Mini Cooper S parked somewhere in Snow Canyon.

Shooting WIDE

Shooting WIDE

I'm I start my adventure to the faraway exotic location of this random house on the top of a cliff… my gear includes a tripod, and a Canon Rebel T3i with an 18 to 55 zoom lens so everything is shot 18 mm. I start my adventure.

Top: f/5.6, shutter: 1/50, ISO 3200
Bottom: f/5.6, shutter: 1/30, ISO 125

The next part of my adventure lead me to the dirt road that leads to this house. I quickly ran into some resistance in the form of a no trespassing sign, so I decided to leave my vehicle behind. Stealth mode activated.

Top: f/6.3, shutter 1/40, ISO 100, edits: lightened shadows
Bottom: f/5.6, shutter: 1/40, ISO 160

The sun starts to set.

f/5.6, shutter 1/2000, ISO 1600

The winding dirt road that leads to the house is rather precarious, yet beautiful. I had additional fun taking a picture of myself on a timer. You can't see it from this photo, but just to the left of me is a long drop off a sheer cliff.

f/16, shutter 1/4, ISO 800

At last, I arrived at the house. Well, sort of… I didn't want to get too close because I felt kind of weird creeping up on the house in stealth mode wearing a black leather jacket with a camera… But, hey! I'm still in stealth mode after all.

The final photo is a combination of two photos, HDR style. I love how you can just barely make out a star in the top middle window of the house. This is something that cannot be seen with the washout photo.

Stats: ??? (See below)

Bright: f/32, shutter: 3, ISO 800
Dark: f/18, shutter 1/15, ISO 800

In addition to the HDR, I also brightened the shadows and upped the saturation by a smidge.

For fun, I just had to do another selfie!

f/3.5, shutter 1/15, ISO 800
(I cheated and did the selfie on full-auto.)
